Maternity Acupressure to Get Labor Started

June 25th, 2010 by admin

If you are at or near your due date, maternity acupressure is a great way to induce.  It is extremely effective in inducing labor, relaxing the mother, reducing the level of pain and speeding up the labor process.

There are three main points on the body to induce labor.  The first is two finger widths above the inside ankle bone.  The second is on the lower back, about a finger width above the dimple on the buttocks.  The third place is located in the webbing between the thumb and index finger.

Pressure should be applied for about five to ten minutes every hour.  Contractions usually begin within 48 hours.  It is not uncommon for labor to start almost immediately.
