A Wood Chest Through The Generations
July 27th, 2010 by admin
I’m sitting here on my sofa with my laptop, watching my two-year-old climbing on her wood chest filled with toys. No doubt she is currently appreciating what’s inside her toy chest versus the piece of furniture itself. What’s funny is this old German chest was given to me by my father, who received it from his father. In fact, this wood chest has been in the family for 5 generations. No matter what we use it for it remains a beautiful item in our home. It shows it’s age gracefully. We don’t pamper it, we USE it. It seems to wear each imperfection it has gathered throughout the decades with pride. This stuff makes me smile, I know that now my daughter is focusing on her toys, but one day she’ll have this old wood chest and admire it like I am now.
